About the Foundation

The Honey Dew Family Foundation was established in 2007. Richard J. Bowen, founder of Honey Dew Donuts, a successful chain of 150 New England based donut shops launched the foundation with his six daughters. Inaugural grants from the foundation will be mae each spring.

In 1973, Mr. Bowen opened the first Honey Dew Donut shop in downtown Mansfield, Massachusetts. His commitment to the local community began then and Honey Dew Donuts has generously been providing scholarships to more than 400 local high school graduating seniors since 1999. Starting in 2007 the company began its partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation to provide free mammograms for women in need, to promote early breast cancer detection and also provide educational programs to those whose live's have been touched by breast cancer.

The Honey Dew Family Foundation is an expansion of Mr. Bowen's commitment to the community and his desire to encourage and support his children's interests in supporting organizations that provide hope and support to at-risk women and children.
